The Project

All opinions voiced within the pieces titled Lily, Lydia, Rosie, Hannah, and Miray are not my own; they are all individual answers and reactions to the questions I gave them. I found it so interesting that they all gave me such different answers, but all of them had some similarities. A lot of them had shared insecurities.
I found it so interesting to hear what they all thought about themselves, and society really. They kind of go hand in hand I think. Looking at all their different opinions made me think differently about a lot of things I thought I had a strong opinion on. Thank you for that girls- it's really beautiful to know we all have each others' support and friendship.
I love each one of those girls and it made me sad to read that they hadn't always been happy with themselves. Of course they're optimistic and I know each one of them will do amazing things with their lives.
This blog was started to finally finish off my university dissertation project. I wrote my dissertation back in January, and, speaking honestly, the whole process of writing it wasn't the most enjoyable thing, but I absolutely loved the topic I chose. My title was 'A Discussion of a Sexual Movement in Favour of Plus Size Women'. I think of myself as a plus size woman, so I was really passionate about researching the politics and motivations behind the body positivity movement.
I talk about this more in another post, but my project had to change quite last minute, but I'm still really proud of the work I've created. It still explores all the things I wanted it too, just a little differently.

I created this blog to explore the body positivity movement that we're all getting involved in. I wanted to focus on plus size women because there's a crazy gap in representation for us. There are so many sexy plus size women I see on Instagram that I would love to see everywhere. I know obviously this blog can't change the world (even though everyone would like to achieve that at some point), but it's nice to take something you're really passionate about and turn it into something anyone can access.
Such a large perk of the body positivity movement is about being accessible. Anyone can get involved if they'd like to. That's the same kind of thing I wanted to create with this blog. I wanted something that was free for people to see, and so easy to get involved in. I think it's really encouraging for us to have safe spaces where we can share, and express ourselves. Instagram is perfect for that! I follow so many amazing and sex positive accounts that promote body positivity and self expression. A lot of them have been the main motivation for this blog. I think one day I'd like to create my own Instagram page for this blog.
